Correfoc Fire Show and Concert -San José Patron Saint Day

March 19 @ 11:00

The picturesque town of San José invites locals and visitors to partake in a vibrant celebration of its patron saint, St. Joseph, on 19 March, coinciding with Father’s Day in Spain. This enriching cultural event, stretching over several weeks, encompasses an array of activities tailored for all ages, merging tradition with communal joy. The festivities kick off at 11:00 with a solemn mass sung by the Choir of Sant Josep, followed by a procession. Attendees are treated to performances by the Grup Folkloric Sant Josep de sa Talaia and Grupo Álvaro Cunqueiro, offering a taste of Ibiza’s rich cultural heritage. The local government and parish workers generously offer wine and orelletes to the public, creating a warm, communal atmosphere. The evening brings the streets alive with Rag & Bone by the Xip Xap Theatre, an itinerant street theatre for families, filled with puppets, laughter, and surprises. Music lovers can enjoy concerts by Calle Bogaloo and the renowned Ibicenco band Projecte Mut, returning to the stage for a night of exhilarating performances. The highlight of the celebration is the correfoc, a mesmerizing fire show performed by the “Mals Esperits” demons at 23:00, wrapping the day with a burst of energy and light. Safety measures for participants include wearing cotton clothing, head and eye protection, and following organizer instructions closely. This event not only honors the patron saint but also fosters community spirit and cultural appreciation among attendees.
